Standard and additional features included in Armet's armoring package:
Transparent armor: Only ballistic glass manufactured by leading manufacturers of ballistic transparencies is used in armoured vehicles manufactured by Armet.
Armet's designers and engineers work closely with the manufacturers of ballistic transparencies on each vehicle type to ensure that the glass module meets the protection and tint level required. In addition, we ensure that the glass meets the requirements of Armet's overlap armoring technique when it is combined with the installation of the opaque armor.
Opaque armor: Hi gh strength steel, ballistic aluminium, composites and ceramics used in the manufacture of Armet's opaque armor are always of the highest quality, to meet or exceed established norms.
Firewall (wall between engine and passenger compartment): Every vehicle armored by Armet is protected at the firewall and is overlapped at the windshield.
Doors: Due to the added weight of the transparent and opaque armor in doors, Armet reinforces the door hinges using a proprietary system to completely avoid hinge failure and prevent sheet metal fatigue around the hinge system.
Roof: The ceiling's opaque armor is covered with a custom made headliner that replicates the original vehicle interior with its fit and finish.
Bulkhead: On certain armored SUVs, clients may select a "Bulkhead wall" with a ballistic window behind the rear seats. This wall provides superior protection to the passengers when the rear hatch/ lift gate is opened. In addition, a ventilation overpressure system may be installed to provide filtered air in the event of a chemical attack.
Floor: The floor is protected by opaque armor of High Strength Steel or Composite materials that meet the vertical opaque armor. This affords significant protection against anti personnel grenades detonated underneath or next to the vehicle.
When you are inside an Armet armored vehicle, you are perfectly cocooned in a secure shell, protected from all sides by discreetly installed armor.
"There are only a few places in the world where you can find
more protection than inside an Armet armored vehicle" |

Ballistic penetration testing is in accordance with Armet's Quality Control Standards
Quality Statement: Armet records and maintains full armor material trace ability. All testing of armor plate, transparencies and composites is conducted in accordance with Armet's Quality Control Standards. Armet tests at a range of 5 metres, using factory ammunition that has been weighed prior to firing to ensure that it meets the required norms. The bullet is fired electronically through a military quality barrel with the projectile then passing through a chronograph beam to ensure that it meets the requirements of the ballistic testing standards. The armor-testing samples are maintained at an ambient temperature for 24 hours prior to testing. Samples are removed from each mill lot of armor plate prior to installation on a client's vehicle and are tested in accordance with the established norms. Upon satisfactory testing, a Certificate of Quality is issued for each sheet.
Armored transparencies are purchased from various leading glass manufacturers. Random glass samples meeting various ballistic levels are continuously provided to Armet and are certified according to Armet's Quality Control Standards. The samples are tested and the laminate process is noted and certified by Armet as conforming to the required ballistic standards. Glass intended for a client's vehicle is inspected upon receipt and is compared to the test samples for confirmation of both lay-up and the optical zebra test. This inspection ensures the optical clarity of the glass. After confirmation of conformity, the client's glass is certified that it meets Armet's Quality Control Standards.
Most armored vehicle manufacturers claim that they only use certified armoring materials. Whilst this is commendable, unfortunately, it is just not good enough. Manufacturers of armored vehicles should undertake testing in accordance with a quality-testing procedure similar to Armet's . Armet's policy of in-house testing is simply because on one occasion, using a sample of armor supplied by a leading supplier of high hard ballistic steel, Armet performed an in-house ballistic test for a government quality inspector, but the product failed! The supplier, had provided Armet with a ballistic testing certificate from a recognized testing facility, but nevertheless, the material was faulty.

Armet Armored Vehicles, Inc., is a recognized worldwide leader in the manufacture of custom designed armored vehicles having been in the armoring business for over 27 years. Armet is prepared to undertake a wide scope of armoring applications. Currently we are a preferred supplier of armored tactical vehicles used by the US Military and many Police Swat Units. Various international agencies including the OSCE and the UN are major users of Armet's vehicles.
The original member of the Armet group of companies was chartered in California in 1976, where it operated as a consultant in the field of ballistics and composite materials. In the latter part of 1976, the company commenced operations as a manufacturer of armored vehicles for the Cash-In-Transit industry and various police forces in the United States and Philippines.
In 1981, the operating divisions were merged with Armet Armored Vehicles Ltd., a company incorporated in the Republic of Ireland. In 1997, Armet Armored Vehicles Ltd., a company incorporated in England, acquired the various corporate entities of Armet. Members of the group are presently operating in five countries.
The Armet organization has three manufacturing facilities to meet your logistical needs, one located in Danville, Virginia, USA; Bradford, Ontario, Canada and the other in Malta, Southern Europe. Three
other plants are opening shortly, one in Nigeria the other in Morocco and in India.
Our geographical spread allows us to meet our clients around the globe. In addition, we maintain automotive service centres and sales offices in Dubai, UAE and in Moscow, Russia, along with marketing offices in London, England and associate offices worldwide.
Over the years, Armet has developed a variety of special vehicles, designed to meet specific customer needs. Today, with exports running at 99 percent of production, Armet has established a worldwide reputation for excellence and thoroughness in the art of armoring vehicles. Indeed, Heads of State, Government Agencies, Police Forces, Bankers and V.I.P.s use our armored vehicles worldwide. Our armoring methods exceed the highest standards in the industry utilizing a variety of proven materials that achieve the right balance between uncompromising safety, performance and value.
In 1997 & 1998 Armet supplied hundreds of armored Sport Utility Vehicles to Peacekeeping forces for use in the central eastern part of Europe. The vehicles are still in service around the globe utilized by News reporters in hostile areas, Government officials and Peacekeeping forces.
The company also supplies, on an ongoing basis, armored vehicles to the Government of The United States, Russia, Middle Eastern Countries and the Persian Gulf area.
Armet armors an array of vehicles. We handle the high demand SUVs such as the Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol, various Ford Motor Company products and the GM Suburban to name a few, as well as high demand luxury cars. But we also have some very special vehicles, which have become synonymous with
the Armet name:
In 1999, Armet commenced production of the Balkan, which has comfortable seating for a fully equipped response team of ten men and is based on the Ford F550 chassis. In the spring of 2000, Armet commenced production of these vehicles for the Government of Vietnam. A number of other governments have since filled their LAV armoring requirements with the Balkan.
In 2005, using the same Ford F550 chassis, Armet developed the Gurkha, with its traditional SUV configuration of four side doors and a single rear luggage door. The Gurkha carries a total crew complement of eight and is armored to exceed the European B7 armor level. Floor protection greatly exceeds the NATO Stanag 4569 level 1.
Armet has in place a successful program of supplying riot control vehicles with water cannons and vehicles used as armored command and control centers. Explosive disposal operation vehicles and ancillary equipment have formed a strong part of Armet's armoring program. In addition, armored troop transporters based on European and North American “off the shelf “chassis have become a product that has experienced much success due to the competitive advantage of using a commercial chassis for armored transportation.
Armet's research work is concentrated in the field of ballistics and blast protection. Armet not only rigorously tests the types of ammunition presently available, but also explores ammunition that might have become available to terrorists during the next decade. Armet aims to be ready to meet each new threat as it emerges. Our existing database of ballistic technology and blast protection has enabled us to stay ahead of others in our industry. We attribute our lead in this field, in part, to our in-house ballistic testing laboratory and firing range, along with the generous support of the Fire Test Laboratory of the Ministry of the Interior, of the Russian Federation & The American official testing laboratories of H.P. White in the United States as well as the Canadian Military and various other Government testing authorities in Europe conduct independent analysis for certification. Our research work is concentrated in the field of ballistics and blast protection.
Our armoring techniques are state of the art and unique and far too technical to go into in this introductory letter. Armoring is a very complex art. Multifaceted armoring materials based on ceramic tiles are assembled at the Armet facilities. Armet uses its own proprietary installation techniques in manufacturing the armor and in the installation of the armor.
Armet has in place a successful program of supplying special training for our customers, in Virginia at Armet Safety & Security Institute or at customer location. Our true “one stop” training has formed a strong part of
Armet's armoring program.
Whether your need is for a fleet of specialized armored vehicles or simply for one, Armet remains at your disposal to guide you through the process. Our size and reach ensures all of our clients of the most competitive pricing and attention to detail the industry can offer. We would be pleased to welcome you to our list of satisfied customers.
